2015 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am: Tee times, pairings for Friday’s 2nd round

The temperatures are unusually warm and the weather is glorious at Pebble Beach this week. Here’s the schedule for Friday if you want to watch golf and feel bad about your current surroundings.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The early leaderboard at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is always a mix of old, young, and random forgotten PGA Tour players. This year, standing out on the first round leaderboard, just a shot off lead is one player who hasn’t made a cut at this event since 1991. It’s hard to miss his name given that we almost never see him on the first page of a PGA Tour leaderboard anymore and he doesn’t even have full Tour status. But thanks to a first round that matched a career best, John Daly sits at 7-under and right in the hunt on the Monterey Peninsula.

Daly made his way around Pebble on Thursday in the most un-Daly fashion -- by not making a single bogey. That led to the rare mid-60s round. Daly’s rounds are always hanging by a thread, a blow-up hole lurks everywhere and comes at the most unexpected places. His rounds quickly and often go off the rails, but he got through the opener unscathed and is now the headliner heading into Friday.

Unfortunately, we won’t see much of Daly because now he rotates over to the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club. This is the second tournament on the West Coast swing that puts the pros out with two amateurs in foursomes and thus needs multiple courses to accommodate it all. And the Peninsula is probably the most concentrated collection of world-class golf courses on the planet. It’s an embarrassment of riches really, and the rota has settled nicely into Pebble, MPCC, and Spyglass Hill. Daly will be over at MPCC, where he’ll play mostly out of view of the Golf Channel cameras. Those are set up at Pebble, the tournament namesake and main attraction that also hosts the final round on Sunday. If Daly implodes, or stays in the hunt, we’ll only get an occasional highlight or two.

The scoring conditions for Daly and the entire field were absolutely perfect on Thursday. Most of the pros, who have teed it up at Pebble so many times, said it was the most beautiful weather they had ever seen at the venue.

The temperatures were inordinately warm for this time of year and the wind was down, making up for the miserable and cold conditions from last year’s Pro-Am. The weather is supposed to stay this glorious for the rest of the weekend, so there should be no delays and scheduling troubles like last year.

The group of pros and amateurs playing in front of the cameras at Pebble on Friday isn’t exactly loaded with heavy hitters. There aren’t too many big name pros and no real interesting celebrity amateurs. Defending champion Jimmy Walker is among the pro group. He might be the best American player in the game right now so expect to see his every shot on Friday afternoon. After that, you might get a mix of Davis Love III, Graham DeLaet, David Duval and some lesser names who happen to be higher up on the board. On the amateur side, there’s ... Condi Rice, Michael Bolton, and Coach Craig T. Nelson, who is now a Tiger Woods expert.

Given the lack of big names to follow on Pebble, plan on getting a lot more coverage of the scenery, happenings down on the beach, and animals having fun out in the water. That’s become as much a part of these early-round broadcasts as any of the golf. Here’s the tee sheet for the second round (all times ET):
