Tiger Woods’ back was so bad that he couldn’t even pick up his own tee

In addition to a short game in shambles, Tiger is now having playing partner Billy Horschel pick up his tee and grab his ball out of the hole.

Tiger Woods was somehow even-par through his first 10 holes of the Farmers Insurance Open, but his day came to an end on his 12th green with what looks like another serious back injury. The North Course at Torrey Pines is one of the easiest setups on the entire PGA Tour, but his score was a bit of a miracle given that Tiger’s game was already in shambles and his back was flaring up on him again.

By about the third hole in his round, Woods started grimacing after almost every shot -- whether it was a full-swing off the tee or a pitching wedge from the fairway. He walked gingerly, struggled to bend over, and seemed perpetually on the edge of another withdrawal. This swing from the rough at his 10th hole of the round looked particularly ominous, but Woods somehow finished the hole with his second birdie of the day.

That birdie, however, proved to be only a momentary reprieve and Woods was back making a mess of things on the next hole. He airmailed a wedge shot about 30 yards over the green, leaving the Golf Channel analysts in shocked horror and this kid along the ropes giggling.

That resulted in a double bogey, and Tiger looked not only injured but totally disinterested in playing the rest of his round. He had just seven holes to go, but the “WD watch” was on high alert as he played his 12th hole (the 3rd hole at the North Course), which went right up near the clubhouse.

Sure enough, Tiger was on a golf cart and headed to the parking lot as his group reached the green.
