Watch this golfer’s attempted flop shot go backwards into the water

Here’s how to make a quadruple-bogey when you’re just 10 yards from the hole.

The primary objective of golf is to advance the ball forwards toward a hole. Thongchai Jaidee, on what appeared to be a pretty basic chip shot onto the green, went the wrong way. Unfortunately for Jaidee, there was also a water hazard waiting to gobble up his ball and add a penalty stroke.

That disastrous flop shot was the second straight water ball for Jaidee and a big reason for a quadruple-bogey 9! at Doral’s 8th hole. He was lying four just 10 yards from the cup. The PGATour ShotTracker image of his work around the green is some sort of tragic art.

Thanks in large part to that quad, Jaidee is in second-to-last place at 8-over in the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
