The first 36 holes at the 2015 Masters are complete, leaving just 55 players in the field to compete for the green jacket. Everyone is currently chasing Jordan Spieth who set a 36-hole Masters scoring record and will head to the weekend with a five-stroke lead. Considering how well Spieth has played and his current position, the weekend is either headed toward the 21-year-old claiming his first major championship or a historical collapse.
2015 Masters live streaming: How to watch Saturday’s round live online
The Masters heads to the weekend which means a change in the television and online coverage.
Only three players have held a five-stroke lead through 36 holes at Augusta National, according to Justin Ray of Golf Channel. All three went on to claim the title. Spieth will attempt keep that streak rolling and could become the first player since Raymond Floyd in 1976 to win wire-to-wire. Spieth has already set some Masters history and has plenty more in his sights. Even Tiger Woods’ tournament scoring record of 18-under is at risk. Spieth is already 14-under and showing no signs of slowing down.
Spieth may be in the dominant position at the midway point, but there are still challengers. Charley Hoffman will begin Saturday five strokes off the lead at 9-under while Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson join Paul Casey in a tie for third at 7-under. A total of 10 players will begin the final round within 10 strokes of Spieth, including Phil Mickelson at 6-under. Scoring conditions have been favorable and there are low rounds to be had, but it appears the rest of the field will need to go low and have Spieth falter to have a shot. If he cards another round in the mid-to-low 60s on Saturday, catching him on Sunday could be an impossible task.
Regardless of what happens to Spieth and the other leaders on Saturday, viewers will be able to see most of their rounds live as they unfold. While several big names played in relative obscurity on Thursday and Friday before the limited Augusta National television window began, the leaders will mostly play under the watchful eye of a live CBS broadcast. The final six groups will all tee off after 2 p.m. ET, not long before television coverage on CBS will begin at 3 p.m. Spieth and Hoffman will be the final group off the tee and their 2:55 p.m. tee time will allow viewers to see nearly every shot they hit live as it happens.
In addition to the television coverage, there will be several ways to watch the third round live online. CBSSports.com and Masters.com will provide live online streams of the event, including a simulcast stream of the television coverage. That stream will begin at 3 p.m. and run through the end of the round.
That won’t be the only online coverage, however, there will be several streams including a live feed of Amen Corner and another of Nos. 15 and 16. A pair of featured group streams will follow several pairings as they make their way around the back nine. In all, viewers will be able to watch four hours of television coverage while catching additional action via multiple online streams.
