Ted Bishop reignites old feud with ‘overrated’ Ian Poulter after The Players

Ted Bishop chooses to poke fun at Ian Poulter rather than congratulate Rickie Fowler for winning The Players Championship.

Ted Bishop just can’t help embarrassing himself when it comes to Ian Poulter and social media.

Bishop, who was ousted from his position as president of the PGA of America in October after posting a tweet calling Poulter a “lil girl,” was back at it Sunday night following Rickie Fowler’s Players Championship victory.

Rather than graciously congratulating Fowler on his dramatic, come-from-behind playoff win over Sergio Garcia and Kevin Kisner, Bishop chose to reignite his spat with Poulter via -- what else? -- Twitter.

That remark referred to a now-infamous Sports Illustrated poll in which their PGA Tour peers anonymously ranked Fowler and Poulter as the most overrated players in golf (they tied, both receiving 24 percent of the vote).

The ever-vigilant king of Twitter, Poulter -- who originally earned the ex-prez’s ire by criticizing Nick Faldo’s Ryder Cup stewardship -- sniped right back.

We’re guessing that those 11 trophy emojis represented Poulter’s European Ryder Cup team’s supremacy over the U.S. -- including the humiliating 16.5-11.5 drubbing that Bishop’s hand-picked captain, Tom Watson, suffered in September.

Bishop, of course, could not stop typing. He posted a ham-handed attempt at saying he was having some fun with Poulter that sounded more like he was insulting his intelligence.

Poulter’s Ryder Cup teammate, Lee Westwood, joined the virtual fray by letting Bishop’s words speak for themselves.
