Golfer angrily shatters his club, still has 7 more holes to play
Greg Owen is near the lead at the St. Jude Classic, but now he’ll have to play most of his back nine with one less club than everyone else.

Greg Owen started the day at the FedEx St. Jude Classic with the lead and has stayed near the top of the leaderboard all day. He came to the 12th tee just a shot back of Fabian Gomez, who he’s playing with in the final Sunday pairing.
A water ball at the 12th, however, may put enough distance between Owen and Gomez for the rest of the round. Not only did he take a penalty shot, but Owen was reduced to using 13 clubs for the rest of the back nine.
This wasn’t your average club destruction. Instead of snapping it over his knee, or pounding the clubhead into the turf, Owen slammed the butt end of a fairway metal into the grass. The club instantly shattered, a piece shooting off to the left past his caddie’s face, the grip and shaft rocketing backwards toward the camera while the shaft-less clubhead and hosel were left in his hands.
He ... uh ... is just two shots off the lead and still has seven full holes to play, so not the most prudent time to break a club.
