How to watch the 2015 TOUR Championship live online, TV schedule and more

No one wants to do work on a Friday anyways -- here’s how to watch golf instead.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

There are just 54 holes left in the PGA Tour season, and only 18 before football overwhelms the sports weekend. Friday afternoon’s broadcast of the TOUR Championship is the last of the season that won’t have to go up against football -- college or NFL. The TOUR Championship and FedExCup do not have the cachet or weight of a major championship, not close. But it’s better than the barren post-PGA Championship schedule that existed before this postseason contrivance. It can’t compete with football, but at least the best in the world show up and they’re compelled to play for an obscene amount of money.

Most of the field will play a majority of their second round during Friday’s five-hour broadcast window. There are just 28 players left in what is the smallest, most exclusive field of the entire year. Those 14 tee times are spread out over two hours and the pace of play moves quickly, with most rounds lasting four hours at the longest. It’s definitely tidy and conducive to TV, with a contained set of players all out there during the coverage window.

Golf Channel will have all five hours of the second round broadcast. That’s an expanded length from their typical second round PGA Tour broadcasts. Those usually only run three hours, but these FedExCup properties are some of their biggest golf events and they want to blow it out a bit for the season finale. Saturday’s broadcast is pushed up to the morning to try and finish things before NBC switches to Notre Dame football at 3:30 p.m. ET. Sunday’s broadcast has to go up against the NFL, which is obviously a losing proposition. So these first two rounds are actually the Tour’s better opportunity to make some headlines at their postseason finish.

If you’re unable to watch on TV Friday, there are two separate streams that will be up and running throughout the afternoon. PGA Tour Live doesn’t really have the option of broadcasting their usual featured groups stream -- the field is too small and everyone is out in the afternoon during TV coverage. So they have a featured holes stream and also a 2.5-hour pregame show starting at 10:30 a.m. ET if you’re really trying to avoid work on a Friday. In addition to that stream, Golf Channel will also have a simulcast of the entire five-hour TV broadcast. Here are all your media options for Friday:
