Rickie Fowler hits TPC Sawgrass’ island green both blindfolded and left-handed

The Players Championship winner from last year played the famous par-3 17th better than anyone we’ve ever seen, so things need to be toughened up this year.

On one Sunday afternoon in 2015, Rickie Fowler played the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass better than anyone has in the history of that famous island par-3. He birdied it three separate times in last year’s final round of The Players -- once during an incredible 5-under in a four-hole closing stretch in regulation, and twice in a playoff. Each time, he stuffed a stock gap wedge right on top of the pin, which was in its dangerous traditional Sunday spot tucked on the right peninsula portion of the green. The hole is supposed to scare you into a mistake on Sunday.

So this year, the PGA Tour tried to make it more difficult for him. Whether it’s blindfolded or lefty, the defending Players champ still found the island green.
