NCAA women’s golfer celebrates miracle comeback by raking a sand trap

With three holes to play, the situation was not looking good for Washington golfer Sarah Rhee at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships. She trailed by three holes and needed a miraculous comeback. Then she won three straight holes to force a playoff.

The good times kept rolling for Rhee on the 19th hole. After hitting her approach shot into the bunker, the Washington freshman holed out from the sand to win the match. In that situation, a golfer could basically get away with any celebration. The emotions were high. Jumping up and down, throwing a club in the air, everything was acceptable.

Rhee reacted calmly and went on with her business of raking the bunker she just holed out of. Few professionals would have kept their emotions in check to that level. A freshman golfer on a huge stage? I wouldn’t have blamed her for running and jumping in a lake.

Ice water in her veins.
