Players Championship 2017: Tee times, pairings for Saturday

Despite rain in the forecast, the PGA Tour will send a larger-than-normal weekend field of 82 players out in groups of two and all off the first tee.

Louis Oosthuizen and Kyle Stanley look to carry over a strong Friday performance into the third round of the 2017 Players Championship on Saturday at TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vera Beach, Fla.

Stanley and Oosthuizen both shot 66 in the second round, and are tied atop the leaderboard at 9-under, two strokes clear of J.B. Holmes. That trio is the only group to shoot two sub-70 rounds in the first two rounds of the tournament.

Oosthuizen and Stanley will tee off at 2:50 p.m. ET in Saturday’s third round, but there are some interesting groupings ahead of them.

You have Phil Mickelson and William McGirt at 12:20 p.m., followed by Henrik Stenson and Jason Day at 12:30 p.m., then Adam Scott and Steve Stricker at 12:50 p.m., with that group among a whopping 11 golfers at 2-under.

Day won the 2016 Players Championship by four strokes.

Stenson might have teed off in a later group on Saturday, but a double bogey on 18 on Friday pushed him back about an hour.

NBC television coverage of the third round begins at 2 p.m. ET, 50 minutes before the leaders tee off. Online streaming of Saturday at the Players Championship is available through NBC Sports.
