Tiger Woods live stream 2018: How to watch him play at the Farmers Insurance Open Round 4

A week ago, Jim Nantz was calling the AFC Championship game featuring a 40-something legend, arguably the greatest of all time, trying to sustain maybe the longest run of greatness in his sport. This Sunday, he’s back on the call with another 40-something legend, arguably the greatest of all time, trying to reboot a career that went from the most dominant of all time and careened suddenly off a cliff.

Nantz has a pretty good gig and this Sunday he gets to watch Tiger Woods play his first final round on the PGA Tour in about 900 days. It’s been that long for Tiger, who last made the cut at an official PGA Tour event at the August of 2015 Wyndham Championship. Four back surgeries, personal scandal, addiction problems, and different swing maladies interrupted what looked to be a surefire GOAT career. Instead, Tiger is still stuck on 14 majors, the last coming at this Torrey Pines venue at the 2008 U.S. Open.

It remains to be seen whether that hit list of injuries and personal troubles interrupted, or officially ended a career. Tiger is back out there swinging again and now his back is “fused,” as he is quick to tell you. This was a different surgery this last time around and he insists he is now pain free. Making the cut in your first PGA Tour start in a year is a good way to demonstrate there’s still life in the career. But it doesn’t really prove anything yet. Tiger needs to do it for a sustained stretch, over months and maybe even a couple years. This is a fine start.

Woods tees off at 11:15 a.m. ET, setting up a finish on CBS around 3:30 or 4 p.m. ET. Prior to that, Golf Channel will have coverage of the early portion of his round, beginning with their pregame show at Noon. That should be full of live look-ins of his every shot with commentary from the studio and takes from Brandel Chamblee dubbed over it. That first 45 minutes or so, from 11:15 to Noon, however, we may be out of luck and have to count on videos on social media and the PGA Tour’s accounts to get up to speed on his first few holes.

There is also a golf tournament happening concurrent to the Tiger show. Not many care about that, but CBS coverage in their first round back on Saturday was a huge improvement over the production that’s drawn the ire of golf fans on Twitter in recent years. They had copious Pro Tracer technology all over the course, on every tee and even on fairway shots. They also just showed more golf shots -- a novel concept for a golf broadcast but one with which they have struggled in recent years. They should be commended after a few really rough years, especially on this West Coast swing. Here’s hoping, like Tiger’s health, it is sustained over the course of the season.
