Jim Nabors, the actor that famously portrayed Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show, will sing “Back Home Again in Indiana” during the pre-race ceremonies on Sunday’s 97th Indianapolis 500, according to Fox News.

Gomer Pyle will be back singing “Back Home Again in Indiana” at the 2013 Indianapolis 500. Carol Brady won’t be making the trip.

Florence Henderson, the actress who played Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch, usually sings “God Bless America” at the race, but she won’t make the trip this year due to illness. Indiana singer-songwriter Jon McLaughlin will sing the song in her place.
This will be the 34th time Nabors has performed at the Indy 500 since 1972. He missed singing at last year’s race due to undergoing heart surgery, so instead a video was aired of Nabors performing the song from his home in Hawaii.
The green flag flies for the Indy 500 at 12:12 p.m. ET. The race will be televised nationally on ABC. Some favorites include Marco Andretti, Ed Carpenter and James Hinchcliffe.
