2013 Indy 500 Weather forecast: Slightest chance of showers

Could rain showers cause problems for the 97th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing the Indianapolis 500? Check out the weather forecast for all the activities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the last chance for drivers to get their cars ready for the Indianapolis 500, and the weather couldn’t be better for it. An area of high pressure will settle in over the state today providing lots of sunshine and blue skies. Temperatures this afternoon will be unseasonably cool in the mid to upper 60s.

Saturday and Sunday will feature an increased chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. A weak upper level disturbance will move in across central Indiana late day Saturday and into Sunday. While I don’t expect a washout scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and again on race day.

The race shouldn’t be a washout but with a small chance of a shower or storm, there is a chance for a possible delay. The odds of a rain delay for race day appear to be twenty-fiver percent or less. Unlike last year, temperatures for race day will not be as warm with afternoon highs in the low 70s.
