Ed Carpenter will start the race from the pole after registering an average time of over 228 mph during qualifying and winning the Fast Nine Shootout. Carpenter has only two career wins, but did post a pair of top-10 finishes at Indy in 2008 and 2009.
The first 24 cars in the 33-car field were established the previous Saturday, with the final nine spots being solidified during Bump Day the following day. Last year’s winner, Dario Franchitti, will start in 17th. Here is the full starting grid, courtesy of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
For those of you who will be in attendance, gates at the track open at 5:30 a.m.
