The 2013 Indianapolis 500, the most prestigious event in the Izod IndyCar Series, is a Memorial Day weekend tradition. When the green flag flies at approximately 12:12 p.m. ET, race fans who receive Internet or cable subscriptions through an affiliated provider of WatchESPN will be able to watch streaming video from on-board cameras carried by their choice of 12 cars. Last year's race is still available to watch, as well, if you'd like to re-live Dario Franchitti's third career Indy 500 win.
For radio listeners, the IMS Radio Network will broadcast the race throughout over 400 affiliates. You can also find coverage on XM channel 145 or Sirius channel 211. Mike King will be the anchor for the 15th straight year.
Ed Carpenter, an Indianapolis native, starts on the pole after winning the Fast Nine Shootout last Saturday. He’s the only owner/driver in the 2013 field. Carlos Munoz will start in second position in his Indianapolis 500 debut, while Marco Andretti secured the final spot on the front line by qualifying third.
Will Power dominated the regular qualifying session, but dropped to sixth during the shootout. Ryan Hunter-Reay also struggled, dropping from second after regular qualifying to seventh. Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves will start the 2013 Indy 500 from the eighth spot.
