Qualifying for the 2014 Indianapolis 500 will conclude on Sunday with Pole Day, as 33 drivers vie for starting position for the Memorial Day weekend race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.


Qualifying weekend for the 98th Indianapolis 500 concludes on Sunday with Pole Day, with 33 drivers jockeying for position and Saturday's top nine vying for the coveted pole position at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Ed Carpenter averaged 230.661 mph in his four qualifying laps on Saturday to lead all racers. He will run one more four-lap qualifying attempt on Sunday along with the other top nine racers from Saturday — Carlos Munoz, Helio Castroneves, James Hinchcliffe, Will Power, Marco Andretti, Simon Pagenaud, Josef Newgarden and J.R. Hildebrand — in the Fast Nine Shootout, with an aggregate score to determine the order of the first three rows of the Indy 500.

Drivers in positions 10-33 will have their Saturday times erased, and their four-lap qualifying effort on Sunday will determine their starting spot.
Here is the Sunday schedule (all times ET):
10:15 a.m.: Qualifying, positions 10-30
12:45 p.m.: Qualifying, positions 31-33
2 p.m.: Fast 9 qualifying
ABC will televise the qualifying from 1-3 p.m., with Watch ESPN providing online coverage throughout the day. The radio broadcast can be heard on XM 209 and Sirius 213, as well as indycar.com.
Tony Kanaan, the 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner, began last year’s race in 11th position.
