FULL RESULTS: Ryan Hunter-Reay takes the checkered flag
Indy 500 live results: Caution-free race breaks halfway record
Without any yellow flags so far, this year’s Indy is set to smash the record for average speed.

Leading midway through this year’s edition, Helio Castroneves continues his pursuit to join A.J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and Rick Mears as the only drivers to win four Indianapolis 500s.
Castroneves, who won at Indy in 2001, 2002 and 2009, has run a steady pace and holds a slight advantage over second-place Ryan Hunter-Reay. The two frontrunners continue to exchange the lead back-and-forth. Castroneves has led 36 laps, Hunter-Reay 13.
The story thus far is what hasn’t occurred, as the race has run caution-free. And because of the lack of yellow flags, the 2014 race has set a record for average speed at 211.871 mph. The previous 100-lap record of 177.687 mph came last year in a race that also featured a record 67 lead changes.
A reported dead battery caused Tony Kanaan to stall on pit road. The defending Indy 500 champion lost 19 laps as his team made repairs.
