2014 Indy 500 live results: Scott Dixon crashes
The first major crash at IMS came with fewer than 50 laps left to go.

The record pace for the 2014 Indianapolis 500 slowed when the first caution of the afternoon waved for an incident involving Charlie Kimball on Lap 149.
Kimball spun exiting Turn 2, down the track and into the inside guardrail. He was able to drive his damaged Dallara-Honda back to pit road, but went to the garage.
Indy 500
When the Indy 500 restarted Ed Carpenter was out front with Ryan Hunter-Reay, Marco Andretti, Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves holding spots two through five.
But shortly after the green flag waved the caution was back out for Dixon, who crashed heavily coming off of Turn 4. Joseph Newgarden also sustained significant damage. Dixon is the second Chip Ganassi Racing driver to experience trouble, as teammate Tony Kanaan fell multiple laps down with an early mechanical failure.
After sliding back early from the 12th starting position to get acclimated to running an Indy car in extensive for the first time, Kurt Busch has moved to ninth overall. Busch is attempting to become the fourth driver to complete the Indy 500 - Coca-Cola 600 double, and will fly to Charlotte Motor Speedway after the race.
