Qualifying weekend for the 99th Indianapolis 500 gets underway on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday, all before the big race on May 24. Things get started early on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET, and run through 6 p.m. before picking up again at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Indy 500 qualifying 2015: Qualifying start time, TV schedule
Qualifying for the Indy 500 takes place on Saturday and Sunday, and here’s how you can watch.

Update 5/17: Due to Ed Carpenter’s crash during practice Sunday morning, qualifying was delayed until 3:15 p.m. ET. Coverage will air on ESPNews.
Each driver gets a four-lap run with the average one-lap speed serving as his qualifying time. The fastest 33 cars on Saturday will advance to the race the following weekend, while Sunday will feature the fastest nine drivers in the field to determine the top of the lineup, including who sits on pole.
Ed Carpenter took pole last season and he’s one of the favorites to do it again this year. He’s running a Chevrolet, which has taken the pole and won every race thus far this season. He’s not the only one, of course, and guys like Helio Castroneves and Juan Montoya are also in the discussion.
Whatever the case, coverage of qualifying will be broadcast on ABC, the long-time host of the Indy 500. Coverage begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The race itself doesn’t start until 12:15 p.m. on May 24.
