Drivers will compete for a slot in the Indianapolis 500.

Gates are open to the public at 7 a.m. At 8 a.m., the IndyCar Series Group 1 will practice for 30 minutes. The second group will practice from 8:30 to 9 a.m. The Verizon IndyCar Series Qualifications begins at 11 a.m. ET and ends at 5:50 p.m. Positions 1-9 will advance to the Fast 9.
Simon Pagenaud, Scott Dixon, Graham Rahal, Will Power, and Alexander Rossi are five of many participants trying to carve out a spot in the IndyCar 500. Rossi, 25, won the Indy 500 last year as a rookie. Indeed, the then-24-year-old pulled off a shocking upset.
This year, Pagenaud currently has a 10-point lead over Dixon in the standings. Rahal, who races for Rahal Letterman Lanigan, feels “like we have as good a shot as anybody this month.
”You’ve just got to go beat them because the more you beat them, the more they’ll question themselves. But when you don’t beat them, they don’t question themselves,” Rahal said.
When the qualifier ends, fans and drivers will know who will compete in the big race on May 28.
