Fiorentina vs. Juventus: Final Score 0-0, Bianconeri struggle in goalless draw

Juventus did... well, not much at all against Fiorentina. That’s one way to stop having a perfect record, I guess.

Juventus were hoping to preserve their perfect record in Serie A, but hope only gets you so far in football. Instead, the Scudetto holders sputtered to a draw in Florence, and they were probably lucky to even manage a point against a Fiorentina side who haven't beaten them for 14 years.

The Old Lady escaped when Stefan Jovetic managed to squirm free on a set piece, the Montenegrin meeting Manuel Pasqual with a glancing header that beat Gianluigi Buffon only to bounce off the crossbar. They were fortunate again, perhaps, when Arturo Vidal felled Pasqual in the penalty area -- replays were inconclusive but suggest that the Chilean managed to nick the ball away from the midfielder's foot with a quite brilliant sliding tackle.

And that, more or less, was that. Fiorentina had a few more chances, but a curling effort from range by Sebastian Giovinco in the first half remained the best that the champions could do. The hosts outshot their guests by nine to one in the second half, but were unable to make it count. A but more of a cutting edge, and they'd have broken Juventus' unbeaten record, but you'd have to think that the Viola will be pretty happy with a point.
