The Titans got called for 3 personal fouls on the same play
The problem for Bass and the Titans was that the linebacker accidentally kind of grazed Drew Brees' facemask slightly and was called for roughing the passer. Not only did this erase a huge play and possible drive killer, it really angered Brian Orakpo.
Orakpo’s reaction resulted in two more personal foul calls, both against him.
All three fouls -- the roughing the passer call and the two unsportsmanlike conduct calls -- were enforced half the distance to the goal, so the Saints went from having 3rd-and-20 at the 21-yard line to having 1st-and-goal at the 1. New Orleans would go on to score a touchdown on the drive after the refs kindly placed the team in such favorable territory.
