The Cleveland Cavaliers are poised to become the latest NBA team to have a sponsor on their jersey with the news that Goodyear will be adding their logo to the jersey for the 2017-18 season.
Cavaliers’ new jerseys will have Goodyear sponsorship patches

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., an Akron-based company are expected to pay between $5-10 million a season to advertise with the team, according to Bloomberg. The Cavaliers are holding a press conference at 1 p.m. on Monday for what’s being called a “special announcement,” which is being assumed to be Goodyear sponsorship.
The Cavs join several NBA teams who will have corporate logos on their jerseys for the upcoming season.
- Boston Celtics: General Electric.
- Brooklyn Nets: Infor.
- Philadelphia 76ers: Stubhub.
- Sacramento Kings: Blue Diamond Growers.
- Utah Jazz: Qualtrics.
NBA restrictions are limiting the brand patches to 2.5 inches, so don’t expect them to take over the jersey -- but we also think this is a possible opportunity for the Cavs to brand a little bit more. A strong Ohio-based company like Goodyear, who have the famous Goodyear Blimp, that just happens to have the Warriors’ colors ... it makes you think.
