It might be too early to say that these pitchers have each found a groove - things can change at the drop of a hat - but after scoreless third, the fourth seemed to go by even faster.
World Series Game 3, Giants Vs. Rangers: Colby Lewis, Jonathan Sanchez Effective Again
This time, Colby Lewis needed just nine pitches to set the Giants down. It wasn't a flawless inning. Following a leadoff groundout, Buster Posey came in and ripped a base hit into left field. But Pat Burrell struck out for the second time in two trips to the plate, and Cody Ross popped a can of corn into center field for the third out.
Jonathan Sanchez came back out looking to further distance himself from his ugly second inning. He was able to do it. He began the inning flawlessly, with consecutive three-pitch strikeouts of Ian Kinsler and Jeff Francoeur. They each walked 0-2 fastballs go right by. Sanchez then had problems with Bengie Molina and walked him for the second time in the game, but rather than get involved in a long battle against Mitch Moreland, this time Sanchez got the first baseman to pop up on the first pitch.
3-0 Rangers as we head to the fifth. The pitch counts stand at 53 for Lewis, and 56 for Sanchez. It's important for Sanchez to remain effective, because with games each of the next two days and no starter available in the bullpen, this is a bad time to lose a starter early.
