World Series Game 3 Loss Not The Worst Thing Ever For Giants Fans

There’s no feeling comfortable in the World Series as a fan. Even when your team holds a commanding lead over its opponent, it always feels too good to be true, and you don’t trust any lead in any situation. There’s always anxiety and nervousness and discomfort up until the final out is recorded and someone gets to celebrate, and any lost chance is cause for negativity.

It’s with that in mind that McCovey Chronicles has issues its postgame thoughts, an excerpt of which is pasted below:

Admit it. There was a small, sick part of you that thought there would be four straight games of torture-free baseball. The Giants would use the World Series as their venue to pull off their mask, WWF-style, and let us know they were messing with us the whole time. That torture thing? Style points. That’s all it was. Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!

Yeah. No.
...
Shake it off. Just like the Ankiel game and the second game of the NLCS, this is a loss that feels worse than it might have otherwise felt because of a sense of momentum that doesn’t exist. If momentum were a real thing in baseball, we’d be watching the Braves and the Yankees right now, rooting for March.

Click through for the entire post. The Giants’ series lead has been cut in half, but one must remember that they’re still a game in front. They’re in the better position.
