Reds Announce Dusty Baker’s Two-Year Contract Extension

And it's all done now. The Reds and Dusty Baker have held their press conference, announcing Baker's two-year contract extension to remain with the team. A few select quotes:

“I’m happy, my family is happy, my coaches are happy,” Baker said. “To me, this is just the first step in a long line of wins and excellent years.

“Thanks to [Reds CEO] Bob Castellini for having faith in me that I could lead this team to the playoffs. It always helps to have someone that has faith in you. You usually have faith in yourself but very rarely do you see that faith or feeling it from someone in authority, especially your boss.”

“We believe as an organization that we’re in position to be in the playoffs and in contention for many years to come,” general manager Walt Jocketty said. “We want Dusty to lead our troops in that battle through the years and also in this postseason.”

Financial terms aren’t known, but Ken Rosenthal reports Baker will get a raise from the $3.5 million he earned in 2010.

All other members of the Reds’ coaching staff have also been offered two-year extensions.
