    2010 A.L. Manager Of The Year Is Minnesota’s Ron Gardenhire

    In what might come as a bit of a surprise, the results of the 2010 American League Manager of the Year Award voting are out, and the winner is none other than Minnesota’s Ron Gardenhire, who beat out runner-up Ron Washington.

    Gardenhire picked up 16 of a possible 28 first-place votes, with Texas’ Washington getting ten, Tampa Bay’s Joe Maddon getting one, and Toronto’s Cito Gaston getting one. The full table of results, courtesy of the BBWAA, can be seen at the end of the post.

    2010 A.L. Manager Of The Year Award Should Go To Ron Washington

    Wednesday afternoon, at 2 p.m. ET, the Baseball Writers Association of America will announce its winner of the 2010 American League Manager of the Year Award. And, from the looks of things, Texas’ Ron Washington could and should be the frontrunner.

    If Maddon wins, it will be his second in three seasons. Meanwhile, a victory would be a first for Washington or Gardenhire. Last year’s winner was Anaheim’s Mike Scioscia.
