Josh Beckett Throws Simulated Game While Recovering From Concussion
There’s not a lot to a sim game, and it’s a pretty casual environment, but Beckett felt good, and he’s now on track to get a Grapefruit League start next Tuesday. He missed his scheduled start on Thursday because of the concussion.
Beckett hasn’t lifted weights since his injury, but he’s remained otherwise active and feels like he’s in the proper shape to pitch in a game. In other words, after a scary accident, it doesn’t appear that Beckett’s concussion will be much of a setback, if it’s been a setback at all. All signs are positive.

Monday morning, prior to a game, Josh Beckett was standing in the outfield when he was hit in the head by a stray baseball. He went down to one knee, walked off the field with his hands on his head, and was diagnosed as having suffered a mild concussion.
That’s the bad news. The good news for the Red Sox is that, on Tuesday, Beckett’s feeling much better. He had trouble ascending and descending stairs on Monday and was plagued with headaches, but he was able to get some quality sleep, and for the most part the headaches are gone and he’s able to focus.
