Red Sox starter Josh Beckett sustained a mild concussion on Monday, but after some initial concern, doctors cleared him to resume baseball activities on Wednesday. The only thing left for Beckett to do at that point was to get up onto the mound, and he did just that Friday morning, throwing in a simulated game.
Josh Beckett Throws Simulated Game While Recovering From Concussion
There’s not a lot to a sim game, and it’s a pretty casual environment, but Beckett felt good, and he’s now on track to get a Grapefruit League start next Tuesday. He missed his scheduled start on Thursday because of the concussion.
Beckett hasn’t lifted weights since his injury, but he’s remained otherwise active and feels like he’s in the proper shape to pitch in a game. In other words, after a scary accident, it doesn’t appear that Beckett’s concussion will be much of a setback, if it’s been a setback at all. All signs are positive.
