Monday morning, prior to a game, Josh Beckett was standing in the outfield when he was hit in the head by a stray baseball. He went down to one knee, walked off the field with his hands on his head, and was diagnosed as having suffered a mild concussion.
Josh Beckett Feeling Better After Mild Concussion
That’s the bad news. The good news for the Red Sox is that, on Tuesday, Beckett’s feeling much better. He had trouble ascending and descending stairs on Monday and was plagued with headaches, but he was able to get some quality sleep, and for the most part the headaches are gone and he’s able to focus.
Beckett’s going to be held out of action for a little while, just to be safe. He’s already been scratched from a scheduled start against the Phillies on Thursday, and he won’t participate in team workouts. However, a major injury appears to have been avoided, and from all indications Beckett should be able to get after it again before too long. Scare behind him, he should be just fine in plenty of time for the regular season.
