One quick-and-dirty metric for measuring the effectiveness of baseball management is dollars spent per win. There are, of course, different ways to do that. Typically we’ve looked at marginal wins, ignoring the first 40 wins (or whatever) because every team is going to win at least 40 games. But MarketWatch’s Sam Mamudi looks at dollars per Wins Above Replacement, and the results look fine to me:
