From The Captain’s Blog excellent primer on baseball’s impending labor negotiations:
Baseball’s Last Strike Still Looms Large In Memory
↵↵So, what has happened since 2002 to foster baseball’s current labor peace? Perhaps it was the near doubling of league-wide revenue (even in the midst of a drastic recession) over the past eight seasons?
↵↵Yeah, that might do it. Still, it’s not like nobody’s ever killed a golden-egg-laying goose; it looks like the football guys are dead set on doing that right now. I suspect that baseball’s labor peace is due, as much as anything, to institutional memory, as the knowledge of what happened in 1994 has not been forgotten.
