Is Cubs’ Randy Wells Really Fighting For Job?
Early in the spring we learned that Randy Wells was not guaranteed a role in the rotation, but was instead in a battle with the likes of Braden Looper and Todd Wellemeyer for two open spots. The perception of a battle continues into March, which makes it even more baffling.
Pawlikowski ultimately concludes that this “battle” is probably a sham, and that Wells would have to struggle terribly this spring to lose his rotation slot. Still, anything’s possible and the Cubs don’t seem to think as highly of Wells as his numbers merit. If I’m running another club, I’m monitoring this situation closely. Because if the Cubs don’t want him, I sure do ...
