Another book review this morning, because it’s that time of the year and because I do love you, Dear Reader ... This time, it’s Lang Whitaker’s In the Time of Bobby Cox: The Atlanta Braves, Their Manager, My Couch, Two Decades, and Me, reviewed in The Wall Street Journal:
On Being A Braves Fan And The Meaning Of Bobby Cox
↵
↵No, Mr. Whitaker didn't play for the Braves. He is a sports journalist and a Braves fan - by his own admission, an "obsessive" fan. Mr. Whitaker does discuss certain aspects of Cox's managerial record, but his focus is on the life lessons that he says he "learned from Bobby and the Atlanta Braves."

↵In the Time of Bobby Cox is essentially essential if you’re a Braves fan, and perhaps also if you enjoy reading about what makes an obsessed sports fan tick. Nothing will ever top Nick Hornby’s Fever Pitch in that regard, but this book is a worthy addition to the genre.
