Peter Abraham got a press release about Easton’s new helmet ... for pitchers. Abraham (via the Globe):
Like It Or Not, Here Come Helmets For Pitchers
↵
↵It looks goofy and I suspect if I asked all the Red Sox pitchers in camp, none would admit to wanting to wear it.
↵--snip--
↵It might take 10 years - or some awful injury - but the day is coming when a pitcher wears a helmet.
↵
↵It doesn’t actually look that goofy (click through for photo) ... and I don’t think it will take 10 years. Just from the standpoint of aesthetics, I really don’t want to see pitchers wearing helmets because I’ve never seen them before, just as I haven’t gotten used to base coaches wearing helmets. But I also really don’t want pitchers getting skulled out there, so I hope this happens before somebody else gets hurt. But I also wonder where it all ends. Life is so complicated.
