Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings gave his team a 3-0 lead over the Cleveland Indians in the American League Wild Card game with a two-out, two-run double in the top of the fourth inning.
Desmond Jennings comes through with big hit
Indians starter Danny Salazar, who baffled the Rays for most of the first three innings on Wednesday, got into trouble by allowing back-to-back one-out singles to James Loney and Evan Longoria. After retiring Ben Zobrist for the second out, Salazar got too much of the plate with a 1-0 fastball and Jennings lined it down the left field line. Longoria scored all the way from first on the play.
Jennings is no stranger to playoff success. The 26-year-old native of Alabama entered the game with a .294/.400/.706 line in 20 career postseason plate appearances.
