Andy Pettitte landed on the disabled list Friday, a day after leaving the Yankees’ game against the Mariners in the fifth inning. He was diagnosed with a strained left trapezius muscle.

General manager Brian Cashman says the team is playing it safe with Pettitte by giving him some extra rest and that the team “didn’t expect him to give us 200 innings this year.” Pettitte appears optimistic about the situations, as he expects to only miss the minimum 15 days during his DL stint.
Nuno pitched in two games earlier this season for New York, including one start. The 25-year-old lefty has yet to allow a run over eight innings, striking out five hitters while walking three.

Jim McIsaacPettitte’s condition is undisclosed at this time, but something didn’t sit right with the veteran southpaw on his final pitch of the evening. A fifth-inning grimace was not what Yankee fans wanted to see.
He didn’t have his best stuff against the Mariners, allowing four hits, three walks and two earned runs in 4⅔ innings of work. Pettitte did manage to record five strikeouts before making his exit, though.
