Yoenis Cespedes’ latest hamstring injury ends his season

The David Wright update isn’t good either.

After leaving a game last week with a hamstring injury that was eventually confirmed to be as serious as one he suffered earlier this year, the Mets say that Yoenis Cespedes will not play another game this season.

In an update reported by Ken Rosenthal, the latest hamstring injury means Cespedes becomes yet another Mets player to go on the DL and eventually not return for the season.

Cespedes missed significant time from April to June thanks to a hamstring injury this season, so once this was confirmed to be just as severe, it comes as no surprise that he will again miss more than a month-plus of playing time.

Cespedes’ update isn’t the only bad news in the latest round of Mets injuries, as David Wright has completely terminated his current rehabilitation efforts and will now be re-evaluated back in New York later this week.

The captain said that he experienced further shoulder pain after playing in a few games during rehab and is now awaiting a doctor’s evaluation before making a decision.

The full Mets injury updates from today are as such:

For a normal team, not great. For the Mets, just another Monday at this point.
