Boston prevailed in Game 1 on Tuesday night, behind a three-run home run by Eduardo Nuñez and a strong bullpen performance after a pair of short starts by both teams.
David Price starts on the mound for Boston, coming off six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts on short rest to close out the Astros in Game 5 of the ALCS last Thursday. It was the first time Price won in 12 postseason starts.

The Dodgers will turn to Hyun-jin Ryu in Game 2 after a shaky NLCS. In two starts against the Brewers, both in Milwaukee, Ryu allowed seven runs in 7⅓ innings, failing to complete five innings for the first time since May.
Ryu gets the road start despite posting a minuscule 1.02 ERA in his 10 starts at Dodger Stadium in 2018, including seven scoreless innings in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Braves. Any of his starts in this World Series, including potentially again in Game 6, would be at Fenway Park. Ryu on the road in 2018, including the playoffs, has a 4.63 ERA in eight starts.
“Hyun-jin’s been very good at Dodger Stadium, but if he’s executing pitches and being on the road, we’re not concerned. He’s had a tremendous year,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday. “Pitching in big games, whether it be at home or on the road, his pulse, as we’ve talked about with a lot of our players, isn’t a concern of ours.”
