Last week the 2018 Gold Glove nominees were announced, with the Red Sox and Braves both leading the pack with five players on the list each. But there are exciting, play-making guys from many teams to make this year like Alex Bregman, Andrelton Simmons, Aaron Judge, Christian Yelich, and Lorenzo Cain.
The best catches from this year’s Gold Glove nominees
Mookie, Javy, Trout, Simba, and more.

To celebrate the nominees, we rounded up some of the best catches of the year by the group. Winners were announced Sunday, November 4th at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN.
Alex Gordon (Royals)
What a layout this was. Even though he didn’t fully leap, that’s a tough catch. The time he spends on the ground afterwards sells it.
Corey Dickerson (Pirates)
Truly a robbery.
Andrew Benintendi (Red Sox)
This catch had dozens of articles written about it. Photoshopped pictures of Benny with ballerinas leaping or him as the new MLB logo littered the internet. It’s on a T-shirt now. And best of all, every still of it has the Orioles’ dismal record and 61 games back status in the background. A perfect catch.
Mookie Betts (Red Sox)
Like the Benny catch, this was in the postseason as well. The Boston outfield had more than enough proof in the regular season that they can make great catches but this was spectacular and can’t be ignored.
Billy Hamilton (Reds)
2% catch probability really says it all. That’s not his only great one either, he has many candidates.
Matt Chapman (Athletics)
[whispers] That’s Chappie making a tarp catch.
Andrelton Simmons (Angels)
Simba covered ground like few others all year, and it’s no surprise why he’s on the list of nominees. But this catch was one of the most entertaining out of all of his jaw-dropping plays.
Lorenzo Cain (Brewers)
Cain committed robbery in the NLCS against the Dodgers, but this one from earlier in the year might be even more impressive. Especially because he makes it look so easy.
Mitch Moreland (Red Sox)
Moreland won a Gold Glove back in 2016, and it’s not a baseball but he more than proved he can still catch a few incoming objects on the fly during this year’s World Series celebration.
Christian Yelich (Brewers)
Yeah, that’s why he’s going to be the MVP.
Brandon Crawford (Giants)
Crawford’s flow makes any catch of his better, never more so than when he has to run a long way to get there.
Adam Engel (White Sox)
There aren’t words for this one. WOW.
Mike Trout (Angels)
Best player in baseball. Every year.
Jackie Bradley, Jr. (Red Sox)
Yeah, the entire Boston outfield is on this list. But their outfield is bananas good, guys.
Kole Calhoun (Angels)
KOLE CALHOUN CAN FLY.
Javy Baez (Cubs)
Javy is an infielder. An infielder!
