Strikeforce Feijao Vs. Henderson Results: Roger Bowling Decisions Josh Thornburg

The final undercard fight at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson featured a welterweight tilt between up and coming prospect Roger Bowling and Josh Thornburg. Bowling entered this bout with a ton of hype and and looking to rebound after dropping his rematch to Bobby Voelker. Thornburg was looking to send a message as he made his Strikeforce debut.

Referee Dan Miragliotta officiated the action.

In the first round. Bowling absolutely bludgeoned Thornburg. He lit the Strikeforce newcomer up with straight punches, kicks high and low. Thornburg was able to land a few shots of his own, but the majority of the work was all Bowling. Towards the end of the round Bowling lands a nice double leg takedown. He moved to Thornburg’s back and sank in the rear naked choke. Somehow Thornburg survived.

The second round was a much closer affair. Bowling managed a takedown early and even moved to half guard, but didn’t do much with it. Referee Dan Miragliotta stood the two up. The fighters exchanged for a bit before Thornburg landed a trip takedown after Bowling’s first attempt failed. But success was shortlived. Bowling reversed Thornburg and the round ended.

The third was even worse. Bowling again took Thornburg down, but didn’t do much with it. Again they are restarted on the feet. A few more strikes from Bowling including a head kick, but nothing doing. At the end of the round, Bowling attempted a double leg, but got nowhere. Thornburg tried a guillotine late, but wasn’t going to work.

Strikeforce results: Roger Bowling defeated Josh Thornburg via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
