‘NASCAR Preview 2012’ Offers Fans Chance To Get Chase Driver Autographs

Want to meet up with Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the offseason? How about a chance to congratulate NASCAR champ Tony Stewart or shake hands with Sprint Cup Series runner-up Carl Edwards?

Your best shot to do that before Daytona may be at the “NASCAR Preview 2012,” a new fan event in Charlotte modeled after the old “Winston Preview” (formerly a preseason fixture in NASCAR).

Most of NASCAR’s star drivers, including all 12 Chase drivers from 2011, will make appearances and sign autographs on Jan. 21 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Tickets for the all-day event are $10 (available at Ticketmaster), and fans can line up at 7 a.m. on the day of the event for autograph session wristbands.

Here’s a list of the drivers who are confirmed to make appearances so far:

• 9:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.: Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth
10:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin
• 11:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.: Brad Keselowski
• 12:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.: Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman
• 2:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.: Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Juan Pablo Montoya
• 3:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.: Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch

The “NASCAR Preview” is part of a larger “NASCAR Acceleration Weekend,” a three-day event which includes the NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Jan. 20, the Preview on Jan. 21 and the unveiling of the Hall’s Class of 2012 exhibits on Jan. 22.

The Preview, which is being billed as a “festival-like event,” will also offer fans an opportunity play games, look at show cars and buy the newest driver merchandise.
