NASCAR Watkins Glen 2011 Weekend Schedule

Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International figures to have more impact on the Chase than ever before, thanks to the wild card.

With strategy a major factor at road course races, it’s entirely possible there could be yet another entrant into the ever-changing battle for the two spots outside the top 10 in points.

Marcos Ambrose is the favorite, but he’s 23rd in points and would need two race wins to get in. It’s slightly more realistic for Juan Pablo Montoya (21st in points), but even more so for ex-Champ Car driver AJ Allmendinger (17th) or Tony Stewart (ninth, but could use a win as insurance).

With the way road course races have gone in the past couple years, though, this one figures to be one to watch.

Here’s the complete NASCAR weekend schedule for Watkins Glen (all times Eastern):

FRIDAY

12 p.m. – Sprint Cup Series practice (1 hour, 50 minutes)

2 p.m. – Nationwide Series final practice (2 hours)
