Ford Unveils 2013 Fusion For NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

Once NASCAR realized the so-called “COT” car was basically a dud in the eyes of fans who desired different manufacturers to have different looks, planning began on a new Sprint Cup Series car for 2013.

The Cup car will use the same chassis as the current one (as does the new Nationwide Series car), but the body will be dramatically different.

For the first time in years, the Cup cars will look more like actual street cars. And on Tuesday, Ford became the first manufacturer to reveal its entry.

Ford unveiled a sleek Ford Fusion during the second day of the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour, showing off a vehicle that looks more like a street car than any in recent memory.

It will be a refreshing change and follows in the footsteps of the cool cars that are on track in the Nationwide Series. The onus now falls on Chevrolet, Toyota and Dodge to match Ford’s sweet new design.
