At Daytona, Bill Elliott And Michael Waltrip Get Warm Reception From NASCAR Fans
It’s been harder than usual to get accurate readings this season for a variety of reasons. Dover had Kenny Wallace announce the drivers, which didn’t generate the typical noise; some tracks are using more bass music than in years past, which messes with the decibel meter; and some venues don’t have the attendance they once did, which makes for crowd noise too low to measure.
But the circumstances were ideal at Daytona International Speedway last weekend, and so we’re able to bring you another measurement of the fan reaction during driver introductions.
There were a couple surprises: Bill Elliott was fourth – ahead of even Tony Stewart, who ended up winning the race – and Michael Waltrip made the top 10 (tied with Carl Edwards) despite not driving many races this season.
