Johnson earned $1,525,275 for his win on Sunday -- a nice windfall in addition to the glory of winning the Daytona 500. The total purse for this year’s race was a little over $19.3 million, the largest in Daytona 500 history. The lion’s share goes to Johnson, the winner, though Dale Earnhardt Jr. also pocketed over $1 million for his second-place finish.
