Bobby Labonte’s streak of consecutive starts will continue after securing ride with Phoenix Racing for this weekend’s NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway.
Labonte lands ride for Michigan, consecutive start streak will continue
After landing a ride with Phoenix Racing for Michigan, Bobby Labonte will continue his 703-race streak of not missing a Sprint Cup Series race.

The 2000 Sprint Cup champion will occupy the seat of the No. 51 Chevrolet, which has been driven by various drivers throughout the season. The move will allow Labonte to extend his streak of not missing a race to 703.
Labonte had been with JTG/Daugherty Racing since 2011, but has struggled this season to produce results for the single-car team. In an effort to better gauge where the organization was at the team announced Saturday that AJ Allmendinger was going to drive the No. 47 in five upcoming races beginning this weekend at Michigan. Labonte will return to JTG/Daugherty at Sonoma.
Allmendinger, ironically, has made five starts for Phoenix Racing this season, including Sunday at Pocono where he finished 33rd.
Michigan will not be the first time Labonte and Phoenix Racing have teamed up. When Labonte was without a ride in 2010 he started 14 races for the team. His best finish was 16th in the July Daytona race.
