Dale Earnhardt Jr. will lead from the pole position for the first time in the 2013 Sprint Cup Series season on Saturday. Earnhardt was among eight drivers who broke the speed record during qualifying for the Quaker State 400. He posted a speed of 183.636 miles per hour to take the pole.

Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch round out the top-two rows, in that order. Johnson is the current points leader in the Sprint Cup standings with 573 points, with Edwards in second place at 548 points.
Earnhardt has been so-so this year, but perhaps winning his first pole will get him motivated and result in a stronger performance on Saturday. This is the tenth race before the Chase, and drivers on the cusp are running out of time to solidify their spot to make a run.
The race begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be carried by the TNT network. The pre-race coverage begins an hour earlier, at 6:30 p.m. The green flag is scheduled for approximately 7:45 p.m., according to Jayski.com.
