NASCAR Pocono 2013 schedule: Jimmie Johnson looks to turn luck around at Pocono

After two rough starts, Jimmie Johnson hopes he can hold off a surging Carl Edwards at the Pocono 400. Here’s your schedule for this weekend’s races.

Charlotte and Dover weren’t kind to Sprint Cup leader Jimmie Johnson. He started the season strong with eight top-10 finishes, but the wheels have come off in recent weeks -- as he gained just 50 points in the last two races. Johnson has been the points leader since the start of the season, but a surging Carl Edwards looks to spoil his fun on what could be a damp track Sunday.

Edwards’ season has been marred with inconsistency. Experiencing supreme highs, like his win in the Subway Fresh Fit 500 -- but also stuck in the middle with a series of finishes in the teens. However, this up-and-down performance on the track has led to a steady stream of points for Edwards, as he now finds himself in second place, just 30 points behind. He’s the only member of Roush Fenway Racing in the top ten, and now seeks to unseat the Rick Hendrick juggernaut that has held the top spot for much of the season.

The East Coast will be blanketed with rain this weekend as a result of Tropical Storm Andrea, but early forecasts indicate the worst should blow out of Pennsylvania by Sunday. It remains to be seen how the storms will affect tomorrow’s qualifying, as the track is guaranteed to be soaked by heavy rains.
