Though Jimmie Johnson is on the pole for the Party in the Poconos 400 on Sunday, he didn’t churn out the fastest speed in final practices. Friday’s qualifying session for the 14th Sprint Cup Series race was rained out, so the lineup relied on standings.

Kurt Busch wont get the pole position due to qualifying being rained out, but he led the final practice at Pocono on Saturday.

On Saturday, drivers got in two full practices as the weather allowed, and all should be well on that front on Sunday, as well. But it was Kurt Busch who posted the highest speed on the 2.5-mile triangular oval at 175.333 mph, according to Bob Pockrass of Sporting News. If the qualifying had simply been moved to Sunday, then it would be Busch taking the pole Sunday afternoon.
Johnson put up a lap of 175.303 mph, so he wasn’t too far behind. Carl Edwards, who will start next to Johnson due to his position in the standings, was third in the final practice. The top five was rounded out by Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman.
On the first practice of the day, Johnson managed a lap speed of 175.598 mph.
The race is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET with a Green Flag of approximately 1:18 p.m. TNT will have the television coverage and here’s how you can follow the race.
